Food Services for Coronavirus Relief

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed everyone’s lives, and with so many countries around the world affected by the spread of the disease, it can be easy to feel powerless to do anything to help.

From lack of vaccines in the global South to lockdowns that have impacted the work of international charities, the Coronavirus outbreak has hit low-income demographics the most — and the latest figures paint a troubling picture.

The pandemic has virtually erased as many as 255 million jobs in 2020, with the biggest losses felt in Latin America and the Caribbean, Southern Europe, and Southern Asia.

Nutritional programs have been shut down, schools have been closed, and household incomes have shrunk all throughout the height of the outbreak in the least privileged areas of the world, but even in the comparably richer U.S., as many as one in five households have experienced food insecurity.

As a result of a standstill economy, food insecurity has become an even bigger issue worldwide, with experts believing that the Covid-19 pandemic will cause an additional 10,000 children to die from starvation each month.

When facing a situation so dire, it’s more than normal to get discouraged.

But there are ways you can truly make a difference in the lives of the populations most affected by the pandemic, no matter where you come from!

How to help during Covid

So, how can you do your part to improve the situation and help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic the most?

The easiest way to get involved with emergency support is to start with your local community, joining volunteer operations in your area that focus on delivering groceries and donating food items to those in need.

There are also plenty of ways to get involved with local charities working to support elderly and disabled members of the community, providing relief from isolation, and helping with prescription pickups and transportation.

If you don’t have the time to spare for hands-on volunteering, you can also get involved by donating to local charities helping key workers, low-income families, and those who have lost their income during the pandemic.

While monetary donations are always welcome, many organizations allow you to donate clothing, food, protective equipment, medication, technology, and any other basic necessity.

But if you’re looking for a way to effectively help on a global scale, donating to a charitable organization is, without a doubt, the best way to make a difference in the lives of thousands of people dealing with work and food insecurity.

Many international organizations have launched Covid relief programs in the past year, working to support those who have lost their job and house as a result of the outbreak, as well as those who lack the medical and protective equipment to deal with the situation effectively.

Coronavirus Relief Operations by FFL

As one of the world’s leading emergency food relief charities, Food for Life has taken prompt action to support families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, all over the world.

Our team in Hungary has distributed nutritious plant-based food and protective masks to families in need, serving almost 2000 plates in Budapest alone. We have also tackled the growing food scarcity stemming from inactive supply chains by providing more hot meals to the affected populations, as well as intensifying our existing hunger relief efforts throughout 2020.

We believe that unprecedented times require unprecedented efforts, and that’s why we’ve committed to growing our disaster relief programs even more throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

The rollout of our Coronavirus Relief operations has helped uplift and support families from all across the globe, as more and more people have found themselves losing their livelihood, suffering from impaired health, and experiencing food insecurity.

Similar to our long-running emergency support programs, our Covid Relief operations aim to provide nutritious and inexpensive whole plant-based meals to those in need so that we can continue scaling our efforts without sacrificing environmental sustainability and cost-efficiency in the process.

If you’re looking to donate what you can to an international organization that will support hunger-stricken populations on the field and in the most cost-efficient way possible, there are many different ways you can support Food for Life.
