What We Do

Fflg is a Vegan Charity

Food Yoga International, formerly Food for Life Global (FFLG) is dedicated to providing 100% vegan food to address food insecurity worldwide.

We partner with about 260 partner charities and affiliates across 60 countries to provide pure-plant-based meals to people in crisis situations and those facing malnutrition.

As the world-renowned American physician and vegan health educator Dr. Michael Klapper said, our actions are “saving them from malnutrition of the body, and starvation of the soul.”

This is how we share our love for others along with our mission of “uniting the world through pure food.”

Vegan Food Relief

Our global network supports projects that are 100% vegan as part of our welfare program serve between 1 and 2 million purely plant-based meals daily. So far, we have distributed over 7 billion meals worldwide which is a feat in itself.

The first headquarters was founded in 1995 in Potomac Maryland and later reestablished in Delaware in 2017. Food Yoga International, formerly Food for Life Global has grown to become the world’s largest vegan food relief program with a global network of mobile kitchens, free food kitchens, vans, and cafes. Food Yoga International gives special preference to children living in areas with the highest levels of malnutrition and your donations provide the sustenance necessary to help them grow.

With roots in India’s spiritual hospitality culture, we practice intentional cooking and sanctify all the food that is prepared and distributed. We follow the science of food yoga, and we believe that the sharing of purified (Prasādam*) meals helps to nourish the body, mind, and soul.

Veganism

Veganism is the main principle to which we and our affiliates ascribe. As an extension of vegetarianism, vegans do not eat any animal flesh, animal produce — including honey. They also don’t use animals produced in clothing and household items such as leather, wool, lanolin, and gelatin. There are numerous health benefits of a vegan diet including lowering the risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes, boosting heart health, and helping in weight loss.

Not only does veganism protect us from problems associated with animal products, but it is also a way of life that promotes animal rights and preservation of the environment.

Emergency Disaster Relief

Food Yoga International volunteers are always on hand to provide immediate emergency relief assistance to people who are victims of conflict as a result of natural or man-made calamities.

Many people who flee due to conflicts in their communities find themselves displaced and deprived of the most basic necessities, including food and water.

From the 60,000 meals that were provided to victims of the 1993 Lakur earthquake, to FFLG affiliates welcoming Syrian refugees with plant-based meals, clothing, and supplies as they arrived in Europe, our volunteers continue to show their dedication to this day.

Eco-Friendly Projects

FYI is a strong supporter of eco-friendly initiatives, especially those that promote organic farming and advocate a vegan diet.

The Govardhan Ecovillage houses several eco-friendly initiatives forged over a century of passionate work and advocates for replenishing rather than exploiting nature.

The Govardhan Ecovillage houses several eco-friendly initiatives forged over a century of passionate work and advocates for replenishing rather than exploiting nature.

The organization launched the Govardhan Annakshetra, a feeding program that offers free Prasādam meals to everyone who visits the village. They feed between 500 to 1000 people daily and follow the Buddhist concept of Annadaan that is considered the highest form of charity.

Another member of the FYI family is the Podrska Foundation, a Ugandan-based vegan non-profit organization. Founded in 2018, they donate nutritious plant-based meals and continuously raise funds to make local vegan food accessible to those in need.

Rescued Animal Care

Along with our main tenet of veganism, we are passionate about the rescue and protection of animals, especially those that fuel the meat and dairy industry.

Our affiliate non-profit organization, Juliana's Animal Sanctuary is dedicated to the practice animal protection and advocating for those that do not have a voice.

This nonprofit organization aims to educate people about the importance of a cruelty-free relationship between humans and the natural world.

Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary was the first farmed animal sanctuary in Colombia and is currently the only one in South America certified by the Global Federation of Farm Sanctuaries. They combine animal rescue and care at their farm sanctuary with vegan educational programs and use their strong social media presence as a tool for animal rights activism.

Schooling

Since 1991, Food for Life Vrindavan (FFLV) has been supporting the Vrindavan community in India through free meal distribution, schooling, tree planting, recycling, and organic farming.

Our main focus however is giving access to free education, health care, and skills training to over 1500 girls in Vrindavan and surrounding areas.

In addition to providing nutritious meals twice a day, we believe educating young girls is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and improving their standard of living for themselves and their families.

Keeping girls in school for longer also reduces the chances of them being forced into child marriage. Your donations are crucial in putting the girls through school, helping fund college fees, and saving money for them to begin life after finishing school.

As the largest food relief organization network on the planet, we are fortunate to have the chance to make this difference. But we need your help.

Food for Life Global was one of the first food relief charities to accept cryptocurrency donations to maximize the impact of each international donation, allowing people to deduct contributions while ensuring maximum fund efficiency: No money wasted on hefty international bank transfers!

In addition, we accept check donations, online giving with bank wires, non-cash contributions, donations in memory, and planned giving options.

*Prasadam: Sanctified food that has been prepared with loving intention and offered to God.
