While the proportion of undernourished people in the world has declined from 15 percent in 2000-2004 to 8.9 percent in 2019, that’s still a staggering 690 million people. Granted, there are numerous organizations that do noble work in fighting world hunger, but few address its root causes.
Co Founded in 1994 by Paul Turner, as Food for Life Global, Food Yoga International now has 250 affiliate projects currently in over 65 countries that provide over 1 million pure vegan meals each day.
Along with increasing the number of meals served and constantly improving our distribution methods, we believe in spreading the philosophy of equality among all life.
This is the motivation behind our motto: Uniting the World With Pure Food.
Our mission has expanded to include all animals based on the doctrine of equality for all beings and we support various animal sanctuaries around the world.
Across the world, conflict, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and economic shocks have left 135 million people faced with acute hunger and this figure could increase to 270 million as a result of COVID-19.
The unprecedented spread of the pandemic and the resultant lockdowns has caused hefty increases in food prices and left the most vulnerable with even less income.
This lack of nutritionally diverse meals affects children the most. The number of wasted children under the age of five is expected to rise by 6.7 million. This is in addition to the already 49.5 million children experiencing wasting and 144 million with severe malnourishment.

Our primary mission goal is to “create peace and prosperity in the world through liberal distribution of pure plant-based meals prepared with loving intention.”
We have stayed true to our mission and along with our affiliates, we have distributed close to over 8 billion meals to date — more meals than any other food relief agency in the world.
Promoting a plantbased diet is our way to change the world view on destructive food production practices and the destruction of vital ecosystems.
The production of meat worldwide has quadrupled since the 1960s and is predicted to further double by 2050. This increase in animal farming results in further deforestation and pollution and the reduction of viable agricultural land.
Meat farming also takes up to three times more water than organic plant farming as plants used for animal feed have to be irrigated and the animals also consume large amounts of water.
Food Yoga International supports pure veganism, a lifestyle that excludes the use of animals or their by-products whether in foods, clothing, household products, or those tested on animals.
Our approach to supporting vegan-only food distribution is our way of reducing dependency on meat products to promote sustainable use of nature’s resources and encourage healthy plant-based diets.
By living and promoting veganism, we help protect the planet, support animal rights and improve overall health.
Food Yoga International has a presence on all the continents and our reach is constantly expanding. From the Americas to Australia, to Asia, Africa and Europe, we offer healthy meals to those in need regardless of age, location, race, gender or creed.
According to the WHO, most cases of food crises occur in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Collectively, they contribute up to 86% of all cases of acutely food insecure people and some of our most impactful affiliates operate in these areas.
Food for Life South Africa has its headquarters in Durban and works in more than 25 cities with a mission of creating a hunger-free South Africa.
This makes it the leading humanitarian organization in the country and was described by Nelson Mandela as the embodiment of “Masakhane” — let us build together.
Our principal affiliate, Food for Life Annamrita, was founded on the belief that “you become what you eat.”
The relief program serves up to 1.3 million meals to needy children in 6500 schools across 10 states with a two-fold goal.
1. To provide nutritious meals to children during their formative years. 2.
Encourage children in slums or rural areas to enroll, and stay in school.
In addition to reducing levels of malnutrition in existing communities that have struggled with the issue of hunger for years. There are however more and more people in need of basic necessities as they are displaced from their homes.
FFL Serbia is especially dedicated to providing hot meals to refugees fleeing crises in the Middle East, many of whom are children sent by their parents.
Volunteers welcome weary travelers at train stations and refugee camps with a hot meal and a warm smile.

We make donating easy, and even that small change in our pocket can help feed someone. With rising prices, the average meal costs 50 cents — a paltry amount for most people — but it is the value of a daily meal for many.
