The demand for our food relief service in Turkey has come to an end for now.
The Turkish government closed down the sports stadium initiative where we were distributing plant-based meals to thousands in need. Now, the homeless people have been given tents and sheds with their own food and cooking supplies.
As of the time of this writing, most people have left the city. On the last day, the government let people re-enter their homes to take their luggage and the airport offered free flights for everyone.
The team struggled to gain access to Syria and was forced to turn back from their food relief efforts and focus on those needing meals in Turkey.
Our emergency response team led by Peter O’Grady from Food for All felt that their service has run its course and they have started the long journey home.
Thank you to everyone that supported this effort. In total, FFLG gave $20,000 USD to the relief effort and the emergency response team served tens of thousands of hot vegan meals over the last several weeks.
