Paul Turner On Turning Humanitarian Food Relief Into Deeper Social Impact

Listen to my recent podcast appearance on Impact Boom where I sit down with Indio Myles to talk about the impact Food for Life Global is making in the lives of people around the world.

We cover a wide range of topics including what Food for Life Global stands for and why our affiliates will not taste the food they are preparing to serve.

“With Food for Life Global, It’s not just about feeding people, it’s about creating unity in the world so we’re not your average food relief organization. We’re using food as a way to unite people.”

We also talk about the criticisms that many food relief organizations face and how the approach we take sets us apart.

When our affiliates provide freshly cooked, plant-based meals, they also teach people about sustainability, growing food, and different ways people can feed themselves.

A perfect example of this is our work in India, a nation where many people are facing sever hunger and malnutrition.  Our affiliates have been providing free meals at a school for  underprivileged children. If it weren’t for the free meal, many of these children would be staying home and trying to help support their families instead of getting the education that is so critical to breaking the bonds of poverty.

In addition to plant-based food, some FFLG affiliates also provide fresh water. Over 2.4 billion people lack access to proper sanitation facilities, and one billion lack access to drinkable water.

It’s More Than Feeding Hungry People

Indio and I take some time to talk about the work our affiliates do around clean water. 50% of our world’s waterways are polluted by factory farms, this makes educating people on the advantages of choosing plants over animals even more urgent.

Factory farming pollutes the environment more than planes, trains, and cars in the world. It’s why a part of our efforts include educating people about the cruelty of factory farming the devastating impact it has on our environment.

Advocating for Animals

An important partner with FFLG is Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary. We’re proud to support the only certified animal sanctuary in Colombia and has rehabilitated over 700 different animals and counting.

Not only does the sanctuary provide a safe home, free from fear, but also offers the opportunity to educate the public about the true cost of animal-based food.

The Kindness Currency

And if you’re interested in the crypto space, stick around to the end of the podcast where we dive cryptocurrency and how it can change how corporations measure the social impact they make.

It’s no secret that our younger generations are demanding more social accountability from the companies they choose to do business with.

Using the block chain, Food for Life Global is part of the solution by building applications and tools to enable and empower people to do take measurable action th automatically while going about their daily life.

This is a great conversation for anyone interested in learning more about how Food for Life Global was born and how we plan to take the only plant-based food relief organization into the next centure.
