Empowering a Village in Need with World Mobile

In a world where digital connectivity and sustainable infrastructure are often taken for granted, many communities still struggle with basic necessities such as reliable power, internet access, and economic opportunities. Recognizing this gap, Kindly has partnered with World Mobile to bring transformative change to Viwandani Comprehensive Community Organization (VICCO), an orphanage on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. This partnership aims to achieve a social impact goal of $1 million in purchased social impact through Kindly’s Uplift Web3 event, at which time, a portion of those funds will be used to significantly enhance the quality of life for the residents of this village.

What is Uplift Web3?

Uplift Web3 is a groundbreaking initiative created by Kindly, a social enterprise co-founded by Food Yoga International, formerly known as Food for Life Global. Kindly has a deep-rooted mission: to bring maximum transparency to charitable giving through blockchain technology. Uplift Web3 embodies this mission by offering participants the opportunity to purchase measurable social impacts—like feeding the hungry, planting trees, or preventing ocean-bound plastics—each of which is meticulously tracked on the blockchain. Those who participate in the event by purchasing measurable social impact will also receive custom-designed PFPs, known as “Uplifters,” that will unlock rewards offered by our corporate partners.

A Holistic Approach to Empowerment

The Kindly and World Mobile partnership is not just about providing resources but about creating a sustainable ecosystem that will benefit the community long after the initial implementation. The project will deliver critical infrastructure, including:

– Internet Connectivity: Through World Mobile’s innovative “sharing economy” business model, the orphanage will be equipped with a Base Transceiver Station (BTS), providing high-quality internet access. This will enable educational opportunities for the children during the day and income-generating activities, such as adult Web3 learning and paid entertainment, during evenings and weekends. Additionally, the orphanage will redistribute internet access to nearby homes and small businesses, generating further revenue.

– Reliable Power Supply: The BTS and another critical system will be powered by a solar and battery backup system, ensuring a continuous, sustainable power supply. This will not only protect the equipment but also guarantee uninterrupted services, even in the face of unreliable mains power.

– Sanitation Facilities: Recognizing the importance of health and hygiene, the project will also upgrade the orphanage’s sanitation facilities. This includes the installation of new toilets and showers, as well as civil works to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding—a significant issue in the densely populated slum area where VICCO is located.

Economic Empowerment Through Connectivity

One of the unique aspects of this project is its focus on creating ongoing economic opportunities for the community. By leveraging World Mobile’s technology and business model, the orphanage and surrounding homes will benefit from shared revenue streams. For instance, ten homes and small businesses near the orphanage will receive Solar Home Systems (SHS) that power lights, charge phones, and provide internet access. The revenue generated from these services will be shared with the orphanage, helping fund maintenance and potential expansion.

Moreover, introducing adult learning programs, particularly in emerging fields like Web3, will provide community members with valuable skills and additional income. This approach not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the groundwork for long-term, sustainable growth.

Conclusion

The partnership between Kindly and World Mobile is a powerful example of how targeted investments in technology and infrastructure can create lasting social impact. By providing internet connectivity, reliable power, and improved sanitation facilities, this project will empower the VICCO community to thrive, both now and in the future. Kindly’s goal of reaching $1 million in purchased social impact via their Uplift Web3 event is not just a financial target but a commitment to creating a self-sustaining ecosystem that will benefit future generations.

Kindly and World Mobile are excited to embark on this journey together, and we look forward to seeing the positive changes that will emerge from this innovative collaboration.
