Hi, my name is Suvi and I’m a busy full-time mum and part-time Surfers Paradise-based journalist combining freelance writing with raising my adorable two-year-old daughter Amity Maree.

I love listening to people’s stories, and some of my more memorable interviewees have included former treasurer Peter Costello, former Victorian premiers Jeff Kennett and Steve Bracks, and footballer and Bali bombing survivor Jason McCartney.

Along with articles I also write fiction. Some of my stories have appeared in The Best Australian Stories 2010, Griffith Review, Island, Southern Pacific Review and over 40 other literary publications both here and overseas. I’ve completed an MA in Writing and Literature and am currently working on a longer piece.

I live on the Gold Coast with my obstetrician husband Luke (collaborator, editor, nonstop best friend) and our beautiful little toddler.

New Work:

Hey everybody, check out my latest article published in the Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney issues of Child Magazine:

I’ve also got a story out in the July – September issue of the Majellan Magazine on ‘Pram Rage’, a topic I think anyone with children can relate to:

One of my fiction stories was chosen to appear in Takahe’s special expanded 25th Anniversary issue published with the support of Creative NZ Arts Council of New Zealand, Toi Aotearoa:

Another one of my stories was performed on Radio 4RPH Brisbane by Queensland Storyteller host Kim Dodsworth. You can listen to its broadcast on YouTube here:

I’ve also got a story out with Ether Books – a social reading platform publishing ‘made for mobile’ Quick Reads straight to Smart Phones. You can download writing by music legend Paul McCartney and stories by award-winning authors including Hilary Mantel and Alexander McCall Smith through the same publisher:
