After Super Typhoon Haiyan aka Yolanda hit the Visayas, it was apparent that Food For Life had to act and respond to the crisis and emergency. The task of bringing supplies and a mobile kitchen to ensure we could get freshly cooked vegetarian food we like to call maha prasad (Lord's Mercy), was a challenging feat. The Director of FFL Philippines in Manila, Radhaliala devi dasi, personally came to assess the damage in Cebu City. An earlier team was sent to Tacloban, headed by Balaram das, while Radhalila devi dasi went to Cebu, where Typohoon Yolanda had its 2nd land fall. The devastation that hit Northern Cebu was beyond what the team of FFL imagined. So a team from Manila was formed to come to Cebu Island to help start up an FFL Satellite Branch headed by Jayasri devi dasi and Gopal Krishna das. In two weeks the newly formed and dispatched FFL Team in Cebu organized 5 feeding programs in the affected areas of Cebu. Donations from around the world helped the FFL Cebu kicking. Despite challenges and very limited manpower, the team worked hard to get the much needed food to the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). The task is not yet done and FFL Philippines through FFL Cebu will continue the efforts to bring freshly cooked healthy vegetarian food to the victims for as long as needed. With the support of loving and compassionate donors from around the world, we can continue these efforts and continue the motto of our Founder, Srila Prabhupada: "Feeding the hungry Worldwide."
