Food for Life Global is one of the event parters participating in the Yogathon organized by Overseas Volunteer for a Better India (OVBI) on the first International Yoga Day to be celebrated on June 21.
100+ cities drive, 15 cities in New Jersey-New York area, seven cities in California, six cities in Texas and three cities in Ohio have already finalized the details of the Yogathon, said the organizers.
Among the Yogathon’s other partners include the Indian Consulate in New York, Air India and Subway.
The United Nations declared June 21 as World Yoga Day on December 11 last year, following a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit to the United Nations in September last year, Modi had urged the world community to celebrate Indian Yoga at the international level and that June 21 be declared as the World Yoga Day.
“We are more than happy to partner in this event,” explained director of Food for Life Global, Paul Rodney Turner. “Food for Life Global hails from a yoga tradition and our mission is to create peace and unity in the world through teaching spiritual equality in action — free vegan food distribution. A non-violent diet is promoted in the yoga sutras and so it is only natural that our organization be involved in promoting the ideals of yoga.”
